Bio Note: I was born in the Empire State of New York, grew up in the Golden State of California, last studied in the Lone Star State of Texas, and completed a career in the Sunshine State of Florida. I'm back on the Central Coast of California after a forty-year absence to think, write, play music... ward off earthquakes with art.
Across the Historical Divide
The classics tutor told me about the think-tank titan ambling about Ancient Athens to say in his known inimitable way "I know only that I know nothing." In the original Greek of course. The welcome-wagon journalist in the capital city of a certain country in a certain hemisphere informed me of one local outlook: "The only certainty is the uncertainty of things." Now it falls to me to ponder how pertinent these words may possibly be to each other, their mutual applicability over the grand time span.
