EDITOR'S NOTE
Dear Community,

A new year, and many of us will be making promises to ourselves about the things we will change this year, even if we've made those promises before and then broken them. I don't think that the important thing is that we didn't follow through, it's that we believe in ourselves enough to try again. Promises made to us that have been broken can be overwhelming, or they can be instructive. They may give us clarity about who needs to be in our lives, and who doesn't. Promises we've made and broken may have damaged friendships beyond repair. At the end of each day, it would be wise to examine what promises we have kept, what promises we have broken, and what we will do avoid broken promises tomorrow. And in that meditation, there must always be forgiveness—first of self, then of others. We owe ourselves that peace. I wish you a year of personal peace, no matter what chaos may surround you.
