The Waitress
Even before I sat down the waitress brought a cup of coffee to my table— striking up a conversation, we talked about our favorite movies, the fragrant leaves of summer, the shape and texture of skin, and the exotic taste of mangoes. Through the plate glass window we could see a shelf of sunlight rearranging itself along the horizon in an intimate gesture, reminding us of other stories we might tell outside this place our bodies leaning towards each other like metaphors from undiscovered poems.
