February 2025
Bio Note: I'm waiting out the dark season in Pequea PA, burning lots of candles, lighting the fireplace. We caught Covid a second time, fatigue lingers. We never decorated our pine tree but strung on lights and day by day, my husband has been covering the needles with goofy animal pictures. Best wishes to all at V-W for a kind year in 2025.
When Peace Comes: Over the webcam
When a webcam broadcasts the hummingbird's zips and chirps, it's trained on a bald eagle's nest A great hunter broods two eggs in a disorderly nest of twigs surrounded by a scatter of bones— rabbits, salmon, squirrels— prey many times bigger than eagle's leaf-sized visitor This fearless little hummers zooms in, hovers a while with sharp-eyed eagle, blasts off again A giant with a little one exemplifies the saying, The meek shall inherit the earth The universe sends a message about how to live in peace on earth
