Bio Note: My poetry might be best described as writing that circumnavigates our world with a global perspective with an eye for the then, the now and the future. I try to engage the complexity of everything from the simplest to the most confusing things in life, with the vision of one trying to understand life’s many mysteries. Toward that end, I have written three chapbooks and four poetry collections, the latest of which is On the Third Planet from the Sun (Kelsay Books, August 2024).
Halloween, 2019 in Brooklyn
Today, there really is something magical about Darth Vader & Luke Sky Walker crossing one another's paths in full costume & regalia here in Park Slope. When they meet, albeit somewhat comical to the onlooker, their encounter is real play action scripted by the power of imagination some light years from their parents who lag behind diligently in a mixed state of faded Trekkie images with a modicum of curiosity salvaged perhaps by the paper cup of Starbucks-something in their hand, trolling behind, missing the sparks generated when Darth's & Luke's fluorescent swords strike against one another & bring civilization closer to full circle, righting what's wrong in each in a glorified gesture of believing in good & evil. Beyond the candy they score by the end of the evening, the Force is with them both as the ragtag ghosts, goblins & vampires flank them to the right & left, with their own bevy of dazed-faced parents moseying close behind.
