Bio Note: These poems were written during last spring’s residency at Write On Door County in Wisconsin. This spring, at Write On, I will teach “The Rapture of Being Alive,” as a week-long workshop. I am so grateful for the opportunity to walk and write on two different peninsulas—one tiny in Long Beach, one large in Wisconsin.
Iris in the Mind
I so anticipate the iris bloom I think I see one from the window of the room where I sit, writing. I go outside to check and find only a reflection on a rock. The iris will rise and fall in its own time, and I settle for the iris in my mind.
