Author's Note: "The Woman in an Imaginary Painting" was a big project, finished now, I believe, but with many poems still to see print. One hopes imagination is enough, but it seldom is, yes? We keep trying.
There Is Blue
There is blue, a scrape of it, not shadow. The light is not afraid. The woman does not turn from us. She does not drop her gaze.

If There Were
If there were a window, if we could see out of it, if the garden is flowering in full sun, would we notice that she has blushed, that she seems to love us, that her silence says more than words?
