Bio Note: Hello, my name is Steve. I am a career coach who helps people with disabilities choose, get, and keep meaningful employment. I have been married to the same lovely lady (Gina) since 1981. One of my guilty pleasures is to watch videos of the Three Stooges on YouTube. My poems have been published in Ekstasis Magzine, Poetica Review, and Calla Press.
The Sabbath Breaker
He seemed to do it every week, every seventh day, deliberate acts of kindness for anyone who asked. It was not as if He never got tired, needing a day to rest from all His works. Doing good on the Sabbath brought accusations and condemnation vitriol thrown in his face by religious nitpickers who cared more about a fallen donkey than a child with a withered hand.
Aroma
Tonight I celebrate a melancholy end to a season of simmer; twelve months of boil the broth of anticipation bubbling, my desires waiting in culinary angst, my broken dreams like red roma tomatoes chopped, roasted soft blended into oblivion, a December soup swimming with the breast of the common bird shredded by disappointment seasoned with sadness and a dash of yesterday’s tears.
