Bio Note: I am a poet and author of three books on Indian philosophy namely Brihadaaranyaka, the Great Upanishad, Verses from the Dhammapada and Gautama Buddha - A Noble Life. Writing poetry is a sort of meditative exercise for me and an integral part of my spiritual journey. My poems have been featured in various anthologies in India and abroad, including Literary Paritantra, An International Journal of Literature and Theory and Where Flowers Bloom : Poems and Essays of Hope, Strength and Resilience, Red Penguin Books, New York.
Thou Art Not Gone
Before sunset That fair evening, I heard your voice Call out my name Upon the fresh summer breeze Blowing across the rolling greens, As I smelt The exquisite fragrance of jasmine And other heavenly flowers Of the perfume you loved to wear 'Twas ‘Joy,’ I recall And not ‘Ma Griffe’ lying unused And aged upon your dressing table, And I felt the caress Soft as gossamer, against my skin Of the edge of your saree The lilac one, of fine treasured muslin Impeccably draped, And suffused with your love Undying and true In silence, I whispered ‘Thou art not gone’ Knowing that you still exist, As I felt your abiding Presence Deep within that sacred space.
