April 2024
Author's Note: Here is a short reaction poem to the continual barrage of news. I wrote it in January 2018, but it seems it applies equally to April 2024, taxes being just part of the equation.
how about
four days into the year already feels like forty filled with "how abouts" how about that deep freeze in the east the shaking out in berkeley things burning by los angeles taxes and insurance spiraling up how about i stop there before my hope starts to droop like a tree in a nor'easter blizzard rattle like an earthquake underfoot scorch like a burger too long on the grill rise like a blimp, just to crash in flames how about a walk by the water hike up a green hill drive through the delta pepperoni pizza how about that?
