Bio Note: My trajectory as a poet and writer has always leaned toward a global perspective, that is, one that encompasses themes and subject matter with a universal focus owing to my life history of having lived in different parts of the country as a child, as well as my Peace Corps experiences in Chile and associated travels abroad including a year of living and teaching in London.
Going to Visit a Dying Friend
The road there seems long With the roadblocks of thought That creep and lie in wait Like potholes and detour signs Wanting to mess with me As I try at every turn to focus On the purpose of this trip A pilgrimage to rescue and comfort A soul longing to cling to hope. I swallow hard trying to forget my own Long-standing separation issues That are cruelly fingering me with a sense of Ineptitude but which challenge me to Rise up in martyrdom to the cause But deep down I know I will glide Into the expected role , the one cast By a director of the unknown now Taking a foolish chance on me.
