Bio Note: I was born in Bulgaria. I arrived in the USA on a scholarship in 1990 to pursue my career as a scientist. I am a professor in molecular biology, my research was focused on elucidating the mechanisms and pathways that lead to cancer. I am avid reader and I have been writing poetry since I learned to write.
The Mirror
Gently comb the hair - silver stands amidst the blond, Powder the imperfection of the skin, Conceal the drooping with some blush, Smudge some blue shadow on the lids, draw a thin line to brighten the eyes. Who is the aging woman in the mirror? Unable to retrieve the image of a face long gone the frustrated mirror keeps its silence.
