Bio Note: I immigrated to the US from Afghanistan in 2021, I studied MBA at Osmania University in Hyderabad – India, and have written poetry in Dari since 2017, Now I live in Oklahoma City and I have got a cozy place where words dance together and perform. And these words relate to my heartbeat and they pull me up from the ground and this is me and these magic words.
A Captive White Lily
There; She is dragged to the wall Her wall of white lilies A wall of lilies She is dragged behind The white wall of lilies Dragged by a horde of men Drunken captors Though in front of them She is unseen A captive Behind the wall A horde drunk on Whiskey and Vodka She remains captive Behind strong walls The strong wall will collapse down When love grows from the root of lilies She is killing them with her loveliness The drunken captors will kneel down Because she believed in freedom And the sun will rise, Captors cannot see the brightness Nor understand her blossoming Into a white lily.
