Bio Note: I recently began writing poetry at nearly age 65, after concluding a long career as a business attorney. My poetic inspirations range from Langston Hughes to Dorothy Parker and Robert Frost. My poems have appeared in The Lyric Magazine, Lighten Up Online, and Grand Little Things, in addition to Verse-Virtual and other fine online and print journals.

Removal of Hate

A racist painted hateful words
Across a public wall.
Authorities were swiftly called
To come and clean it all.

They did quite well, you could not tell
That wall had been defaced.
If only hate itself could be
So easily erased.

Engrossed

The group sits around,
Each with their cell phone,
Together, spellbound,
And rather alone.
