Author's Note: I was fortunate to spend a week at Wishin' Jupiter Ranch in north-central Nebraska in October of this past year. My first retreat there resulted in The River Will Tell You: Poems Along the Keya Paha. I got enough poems for another book this time, too, including the three offered here. Great thanks to Suzanne and Karl Kelm for these opportunities!

Three Untitled Poems Along the Keya Paha October 2022

My morning
coffee goes cold.
The cottonwoods
say: Now go
find God. Go.

~

You find a place
and wait.
Any place will do.
How do we
not know this,
what patience
teaches?

~

Watch the trees
at the edge
of the river —
that's where
God is, sometimes
acting like coyote.
