Bio Note: I am a librarian and an old-time style banjo player. I have performed at Caffe Lena, Skidmore College (Solomon Northup Day), Great Camp Sagamore, and at libraries and schools in Saratoga Springs and the Adirondacks. I have published writing at Verse Virtual, Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood and HVWG. I received a grant in 2021 to publish a book of poems based, in part, on my time working as a building super in Manhattan - Downtown Super Tells All.
Some say the banjo player
Some say the banjo player Is actually quite sad And that the syncopated Melody notes are a cover For various shortcomings And insecurities. Others believe librarians, He, She or They, Are “deformed” or have Otherwise turned away From life as normal people Choose to live it. Which brings me to The idea of the lost hiker, The aging alcoholic, The despondent adulterer, The person who saves Up to spend money On a boat ride To look at whales. We need to talk.
