Lost and Found
Found two phone numbers In the back of a drawer. One may have been your sister’s, The other your Mom’s? An old tarnished set of keys, Not valid anymore. And a faded greeting card… To me—from you. What should I do? Bury everything? Return it back to the earth? Enabling these relics To bond with you? Or light a fire, A small ritualistic pyre? Is any of this Important now? [I thought out loud.] Moved it all to the trash. That’s when I heard from you. Been waiting for you to find this, Silly. I’m wondering, how are you? I’m fine…I lied. So, I rescued everything From certain oblivion. Sealed all in an envelope. Placed it gently back Into my drawer— Way, way, back…back forever… Forever in— My Lost and Found.
