January 2023
Author's Note: I was fortunate, again, to spend a week at Wishin' Jupiter Ranch in north-central Nebraska in October of this past year. The first retreat there resulted in my book The River Will Tell You: Poems Along the Keya Paha. I got enough poems for another book this time, too, including the three offered here. Great thanks to Suzanne and Karl Kelm for these opportunities!
Three Poems with Cottonwoods
Along the Keya Paha, October 2022
The other side of silence — cottonwood leaves in a small breeze. ~ Doing nothing here on the morning porch is its own kind of poem, the cottonwoods say. ~ I speak of the sadness of last things. The cottonwoods don't know what I mean.
