Author's Note: Continuing the young monk poems, inspired by Tom Montag's old monk, who is much wiser.

three young monk poems

is it possible
for the young monk's mind
to age without dragging
his body along
and would that be a good thing?

the young monk asked.

~~

if my mistakes have been lessons
long forgotten by everyone else
why is the memory of them
still strapped to my back?

the young monk asked.

~~

if the old monk
and the young monk
sit with the mountain sister
who will they watch more closely—
her, or each other?

the young monk asked.
