Bio Note: I am a wandering troubadour, journeying through Latin America with my faithful knapsack Rocinante, listening to the voices of the pueblos and Earth. My works appear in over 400 journals on six continents, and 23 collections of poetry – including Caribbean Interludes (Origami Poems Project, 2022) and the upcoming In the Jaguar Valley (dancing girl press, 2023). I also author travel narratives, articles and guidebooks.

This Season's Dance

All day I watch the clouds dance
across these rainy season skies
at times a minuet
at times a solo pirouette
costume colors changing
the tones of grey
or with the sunset
brilliant splashes staining
their nebulous veils unravelling
to reveal stars & crescent moon

Cleaving the Night

I heard your voice
over the mountains long
before the rain arrived
rolling down those valleys
across the port
down these streets

I felt it rumbling
groping for the
core of my being

& now you journey on
crackling across that sea
towards our island home
your red-tinged white streaks
your flaying axe still
cleaving the night

I sing to you, my voice
battling against the
lashing wind
your powerful ebon body
towers over those waters
looking at me

After so many silent moons
I hear your voice again
it is time for me to listen

to sink into your
distancing voice, feeling it
reach deep into my body
counseling me, assuring me
you shall
come again
