Murmuring Branches
Though she reached out to pluck a few stars To see if Sami had Gone to live on one of them without her, Yet, they jumped out of her reach, Glowing as mysteriously as ever. A vague longing for she didn’t know what, Filled her empty moonlit hours, Which even the smell of jasmine Was unable to assuage. Unaware her tears turned to translucent Glistening pearls flowing vaguely down Her marbled cheeks, she asked The silently smug moon impossible questions. But only a bird, perhaps a curlew answered her From faraway. She couldn’t help giving a faint smile At the shooting star, Which disappeared all too quickly. If she’d been looking the other way, She’d have missed this brief missive from Sami Who’d blazed a trail up to the cosmos all too soon. She’d have pooled, and locked them Into her secret box of treasures If only beams from his star could be separated And held onto.
