Dea
At Giardini Naxos looking toward Taormina, June 27, 1999 Above Giardini Naxos, Reclining, lies a goddess Asleep upon her back. Arisen from the azure sea – This siren lured and harbored Greeks, While Cyclops slept, puffing plumes of smoke In white halos ‘round his head. Asleep upon her back, Her tail upon the azure sea, ‘Till Cyclops stirs and reawakes, Shooting stars and trembling Earth, Creating terra firma in the quake. Above Giardini Naxos, Reclining, lies a goddess Asleep upon her back.
(The rock formation above the city forms a reclining goddess.)
