Author's Note:
"Pataphysics" a portmanteau created by the French playwright Alfred Jarry (1873-1907) first appeared in print in the text of Jarry's play Guignol, and has many meanings, but it is above the metaphysical, and is " . . . the science of imaginary solutions". Many of the poems I write seem to have imaginary solutions, like "Judgment Day". Imagination is a reality equal to, or greater than, any other, and has its work to do. Fantasy plays a necessary role in the way we respond to--and imagine--the world.
My most recent book, the 15th, is Terminus, The Pastoral released this month from Echo Arcade. I'm slowly working my way through another collection of poems which might appear in maybe two years, the best I can imagine.
Judgment Day
It will be in Montevideo or Cannes, by a calm harbor endless among balmy palms. Exotic birds will float by on floral display, and all will be fed with honey and bread. All the souls of hell will be released, having served their term they will be transformed, innocent as floral birds floating forever in some state of grace, desiring nothing other than what is, perpetual, polyphonous.
