Bio Note: I love meeting people and hearing their stories. I had many fascinating encounters with tourist from all over the world during the years I spent standing behind my cash register at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
Gift Box
We only provide boxes if you purchase glass, I told the woman buying a scarf. You call this a store? she shouted, F*ck you! I’ll buy something that comes in a box. She bought a jigsaw puzzle packed in a triangular box, chucked the $12.95 puzzle into the trash, placed the scarf inside, wrote, ‘OPEN the BOX!’ on an envelope I gave her, which she stuck on the top, covered it all in wrapping paper, and marched out the store giving me the finger.
Why Do Some People Say
“Just looking!” when I say “Hello,” “Tell me,” said a man from Florida, “Did Picasso paint the Mona Lisa?” “I’m freezing. Can I wear this sweatshirt for an hour and return it when I leave?” she said. “I don’t want to buy the whole book, it’s too much money. How much to buy one page?” he said. “My mother used cloth diapers on me,” she said, “so I don’t need to conserve plastic bags,” “Do you have the scarf I saw here last week?” she said. “What did it look like?” “I don’t know. But I saw it here last week.”
