In one way or another, we are each the April Fool. It's our nature to do foolish things, most of the time unintentionally. At other times, we are more like Shakespeare's fools. By being so designated, we have great freedom to speak truth to power, as does the fool in King Lear. What we as poets do with that freedom is up to each of us. It would be foolish to waste the opportunity.

I chose the optional theme for this month to see what kind of introspective poems might come of it. You did not disappoint with your offerings. What a delightful collection of thoughts, full of foolishness and wisdom. Thank you.
