Bio Note: I am a retired psychiatrist in my late 80’s living in Brookline, MA. I am passionate about poetry, music and running. My poetry book, Driftwood was recently published by Kelsay Press. October

October is football
October is colorful foliage
October is Halloween
October is a prelude
to a cold, snowy winter,
at least, in the northeast.

I once decided to
not face another dreary
winter, took anther job,
and moved back
to California just in
time for a staff retreat
in a national park,
only to be greeted by
a huge October snowstorm.

Now, back in the northeast
I look forward to October
and head south for winter.
