Bio Note: Here in Vermont, like most folks, I'm waiting for the weather to turn, looking forward to outings to my favorite lakes. I host (since 2015) the twice-monthly podcast at www.poetryspokenhere.com as well as a monthly open mic which is on zoom and will be remaining there, COVID or not. My most recent book is Green Mountain Meditations, available at www.FootHiillsPublishing.com

It's Good To Be Around People Sometime

even with nothing to say
their presence can be
so soothing that before long
the conversation starts to roll
like unplanned sex
when you take the time
one thing leads to another
before you know it
you’re asking questions
and interested in the answers
the heat is on
you’re with your own kind
and glad to be alive

First Warm Day

rock and roll radio
sing along
loud, off-key
the sun, the sky
the woman
in purple tights
who cares
it’s spring
and we’re
on the road.
I thump
   the beat
on the dashboard.
Jack looks over
and smiles at me,
six months old
from his car seat.
