A Sunny Warm Day

There’s an alligator
in my front yard
lounging in a pond
enjoying the sun
while we sit
on the porch
sipping a cool drink.
It’s been two
years since
we traveled
to our favorite
southern destination
joining all the
snowbirds basking
contentedly like
a purring reptile.
