David brought a flask
of his home-made muscadine
wine to the party.
We stepped out between the cars
and drank a toast to friendship.

Paris: The Twenties

A brownie is a brownie is a brownie
but not if baked by Alice B. With Hemingway, 
Wilder, Picasso, Matisse, Gertrude’s days
were laced with chocolate and tea.
