Bio Note: I am passionate about poetry and have so manys books --read and unread -- that I've run out of room. I think it's as important to read poetry (and support poets by buying their work) as it is to write it. It's also important to submit and share your work. Our poetry is doing no one any good by "living" in our computers. Saturate yourself!
Poem for Lemon
Oh, you luscious lemon, you sunny orb of liquid life, the pucker-power engine propelling me into another good day. How you cleanse my palate, ridding my liver of toxins. You deserve daily transformations into sorbet and ice- box pie, the delicate tinge of acid in a poppy seed bread; oh, slip into our baby-bird mouths, waiting for that know-how, that inescapable announcement that all is good with the world. Your bright yellow coat, your waxy robe of bumpy skin like taste buds, like sour pockets of attention and bliss. How I love you, lemon, how you’ve never brought me anything but sunshine even on dark gray days.
