Bio Note: I was sleeping but my wife couldn't sleep. She had been weeping for hours. She came to bed and we began discussing the murders until I had each of those children's horror-stricken faces in my mind. I got out of bed and wrote a prayer that each of those terrified children found their loving family on the other side. I saw it as instant, without suffering and without pain. I do believe that they made it there and they are the ones now comforting their grief-racked parents from above. Love wins, my friends, because love is all there really is in the beginning and the end.

all i can think of is the fear

of each individual child
in that room
and when the shot finally comes
for each of them the lifting
into the arms of
loved ones a great grandmother
a great aunt a lost cousin
welcoming them
brushing off the gunpowder
from their newly glowing
bodies and just holding
them until they stop shaking
saying you are no longer
in danger you are safe
child you are safe
and just holding them
and holding
them
