Author's Note: The old monk does seem to spend an inordinate amount of time pondering what poetry is. He may not have it right, but he does give us something to think about. At this point, I'm afraid he has produced enough such poems he could offer a book called "The Old Monk: About Poetry" if someone were to ask him. Just saying....
Old Monk Poems
The way you tell a story is you show them the good parts, the old monk said, feeling guilty he was speaking on a subject he knew so little about. And that's how you tell a story, the poet said. ~ Do you write better in summer or in winter, the poet asked the old monk. What kind of soul do you have? ~ Sometimes you don't find the poem until after you've written it, the old monk said. ~
