July 2022
Author's Note: The changing of the seasons are subtle in Southern California, but clues are there. When we are not on fire, I love it all. Alas, there is no season for loss and sadness. “Bare” is from Threnody, Moon Tide Press, 2022.
Bare
In gray of May, gloom of June lush lavender jacaranda blooms. By July, its glory strewn it’s just a tree of branch and leaf. Exposed in blue relentless heat, how naked now I feel in grief.
