January 2022
Bio Note: Seems the older I get, the more nostalgic for remembering what made me become me…thinking about a rabbit foot and suddenly aware that the rabbit had lost its foot for my good luck was horrifying. I live in Wisconsin and am preparing myself for winter by dreaming about snowy owls, snow shoeing, and frozen lakes. My new book, Once Upon a Tar Creek: Mining for Voices, came out in 2021.
Pieces of Joy on a Below 0 Day
maybe on this night turning into day as the stars and the moon line up like the show girls they really are the sun waiting entrance on the east horizon you believe in signs the universe ready to hold you even as the temperature drops and drops and if you stare out long enough the snowy owl will return make perfect flight bring you tidings from way far away share with you pieces of joy just to know the possibility of wings on this below 0 day even the tiny voles sacrifice themselves to know such beauty
