Author's Note: I like exploring the given theme and to me "Unexpected" is found in everyday life, the way a new day unfolds and continues through little and big joys and griefs. I have tried to write about my impressions and feelings as experienced on one such day of mine.
Letting Go of the Light
The morning sun inscribes a fiery red in a bid to swallow the windowpane- precious upon the night long rain. The canopy is awash with a softened glow like a mind growing old in memories evenly laid. The clothesline is glazed with droplets that silently await an escape- a crow is surveying the early hours as I clip the clothes beating silence onto my face. The fruit laden branches of Ramphal tree are stooping to women resting by the road, imploring for a share of life and laughter. The opposite plot, a waste land bears the weight of bricks today- naked iron rods darting off mortar like the rising thoughts layered in years so long. A disquiet, moments slipping through the weeping holes, the air, erased and hollowed of the beauty once held. Dust laden griefs strip the clouds, wishes turn obscure in bare stillness.
