EDITOR'S NOTE
Dear Community,

Want to increase the likelihood of having your work accepted for publication in Verse-Virtual?
Pro tip: read the guidelines before every submission and follow them in order. When I get a sub that doesn't follow the guidelines (or at least come really close), if I don't reject it outright, I'm more critical of the poems, and more likely to decline them. Those who have ears to hear, eyes to read, minds to process...

The August issue, with no theme suggested, still contains a surprising number of nostalgia / neighborhood / social connection poems, which makes me happy. Remembering where we came from, who we came from, and how we got to where we are is foundational in allowing us to interact with others in ways that are genuine, caring, and productive. In that respect, the V-V village remains an incredibly positive and supportive place to mingle with other poets.
Submissions for September open on August 1 and close on August 10, per the guidelines. The OPTIONAL theme for September is "A Time to Reap", however you choose to interpret that. Thanks for reading, for submitting, and for continuing to write to each other when you find poems that ring your bell, rock your boat, shiver your timbers. It matters. Always has.
