April 2022
EDITOR'S NOTE
Dear Community,
April begins with a special day for fools. Like many traditions, there is no single official documentation of its origins, though I like the explanation for it in France. Supposedly, when France changed from the Julian calendar (April 1st was the first day of the new year) to the Gregorian calendar, not everyone got the memo. Those who continued to celebrate the "old" new year, were mocked, called "poisson d'Avril" (April fish = a small fish, easily caught = gullible), often with a paper fish tagged onto their back.
Sadly (or happily) there are no pranks in April's Verse-Virtual. Instead, you get another issue with excellent poems, some "new-to-us" poets, and much food for thought. While you're thinking, please consider writing to the individual poets whose work you appreciate to let them know. Everyone likes that kind of feedback, and who knows? You might develop a new friendship. We will continue to accept and disseminate batch comments, which are completely optional. Send them to comments4vv@gmail.com.
Submissions for MAY 2022 open on April 1 and close on April 10. The OPTIONAL theme for May is "What has war meant to you?" I'm not looking for "war is bad, peace is good," I'm looking for personal experiences and insights, whatever your connection to war has been or currently is.
