Bio Note: Hello, my name is Steve. This month I am re-entering a line of work I did 45 years ago: a classroom aide in special education at a public school. After a lifetime of "not getting around to it" and various other excuses, in 2018 I finally got serious about writing. I had not planned for it to be poetry. My work has been published in Oddball Magazine and Ekstasis Magazine, and my first collection, Remarkable Things was released in 2020.
A Jar of Boom
Last night storm clouds filled the skies to overflowing like gray marshmallows some eager child had poured into a bowl too small. I, that eager child decided to go outside to catch the thunder in a jar of glass so I could hold the rumble and boom to my foolish ear. My plan worked for five seconds until the jar rattled and spun, the thunder screaming to escape. Scared witless I dropped the jar glass splayed everywhere, the rumble and boom retreating to the clouds.
