Bio Note: I am a retired Librarian and an organic gardener. I never know what to say about myself that does
not include poetry. In spite of getting older, I still find new things to keep me engaged.
Monet’s Waterlilies
Rising in morning, breaking surface of light, moving on to the next page of life, at night, they settle down in water, like in a bed, closing petals, these brief encounters with the day, a brief kiss on a cheek, develops over time like a picture. Each day appears normal, but small occurrences hide in the background. A buckshot of sparrows takes off. Thousands of eyes are startled awake. Each of our stories unravel this way: a storm throws a tantrum; katydids grind like a pencil in a sharpener; wind pushes darkness forward. A normal day assembles dabs of paint, interpreting differently, waterlilies rising.
