Bio Note: I am a native of NYC, a twenty-five year resident of Milwaukee, a vegan
for forty years, and a lifelong reader and writer of poetry. I am deeply grateful for both latter
activities, as well as for my sweet-tempered chihuahua-terrier companion. TCM and Hallmark movies
take up a huge amount of my time. Publication venues include Ariel, Bramble, and Avocet weekly.
Still Life in a Window
Bright red blood smears the small shorn head tiny ochre lashes frame widened glassy eyes the body stripped naked, all pale pink stretchy skin: in forced repose a real lamb lies. Someone tucked one tiny foot into one loose fold of empty skin, insides nearby, component parts in brilliant red array displayed. Beautiful Italy where butcher is artist.
