July 2021
Bio Note: I am a retired educator so lucky to live on the North Carolina coast, with the ocean as my backyard. Regarding the July theme, I'm mostly still finding my head in my poems, but I'm working on losing it. I've started getting some poems recognized and published.
Again
4:30 a.m. a meteor splashed across the sky. I slept. My son, eighteen, drove with his first true love fifty miles to the Chesapeake Bay into a deep spot of darkness to share the magic of exploding stars. This must be what we have children for. Had I guessed years ago, I would have had more, but I was beguiled by my own quest for a star-studded sky, busy living in the now that now is his.
