Bio Note: I live in an inspiring setting near Chippewa Falls, WI, where I write, draw and paint, and
often photograph my natural surroundings. I enjoy spending time outdoors, listening to the birds, and taking long walks.
I've authored four poetry collections and two children's books. As if Labyrinth - Pandemic Inspired Poems is
forthcoming in May 2021 from Kelsay Books.
In Tender Tribute, for My UW-RF Art History Professor
—inspired by John Di Leonardo’s “Nude Study” Digitized Drawing #11 Immersed in the colors of amber, lemon, and canary, the model’s arms drape as she poses in a seated position. Black lines sweep atop the surface, where legs bend in repetition. Like time-lapse photography, I’m reminded of the painting Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2. As the slide projector advances, a robotic- looking figure strides actively into view. In browns and ochres, its repetitive movements nourish my artistic zest. Here, Dr. John Buschen lectures with dynamic grace. He chaired both the art and history departments, received numerous awards for teaching, and, though no one knew it, was my college crush. In an evocative immersion, I envision myself in the luminous energies of yellow. My nineteen-year-old arms drape across my desk.
The Romance
Morning stirred Evening / awakened the dark brightened its shadows / merged insight with mystery / touched a tempo of notes as if Morning roused romance / kept Evening afloat / Morning loved Evening / for Evening held light / danced in its essence / the elixir of night / Evening stirred Morning / enchanted the day / mellowed its dawning / merged mystery with insight / met an echo of notes as if Evening roused romance / kept Morning afloat / Evening loved Morning / for Morning held night / danced in its essence / the elixir of light
