Bio Note: I am a haiku-based poet and write all the short forms that are part of this lineage. In 2018, I invented a new short poetry form that is haiku-centered called a Split Sequence. I live with my family in the high desert near Joshua Tree National Park. Published books are Steel Cut Moon (Cholla Needles Press), No Velcro Here (Yavanika Press), and Failed States (Bones Library).

Last Call

(a split sequence)

a life in black
                                         
mild depression
a cloud for 
every mirror

the colors saved                          

special occasion
all the spellings 
of mauve 

for dead people

lifelike
how she looks 
in beige

Unleashed

(a split sequence)

departing clouds

after a storm
the bare bones of trees
piercing the sky

we clutch our own darkness

black coffee
the side of them
that always gets loose

for cover

tossing the book
a child returns
to the wild
