Bio Note: In normal times, I am a haiku-based poet, and write all the short forms
that are part of this lineage. My pandemic poem "came to me", pretty much as it, in a non-haiku
format, and it simply wrote itself. I live with my family in the high desert near Joshua Tree
National Park. My first haiku and senryu collection, Steel Cut Moon, is published by Cholla
Needles Press. My second book, No Velcro Here, a collection of haibun, is published by Yavanika
Press.
The New Death
it’s the way it comes sudden and brutal the lungs more like balloons than we’d imagine no goodbyes except by walkie-talkie the dying and the broken a grief without language
