Bio Note: (Deborah)-I have loved poetry since a child and discovered haiku in the 1990's as a
way of "curing" the wordiness of my longer poems. Because I enjoy the natural areas of Los Angeles, the
beaches, mountains, deserts, and parks, haiku helped me connect more to my environment and I started to
notice migrating birds when stuck in traffic on the freeway. Haiku soon became part of my daily existence.
I have published haiku in Modern Haiku, frogpond, and other places and am the California Regional Coordinator
for the Haiku Society of America.
Bio Note: (Marcyn)-Interested in poetry all my life, I only started publishing after the kids grew up and had a life of their own. And I only started writing haiku and related forms since the 90’s. I’ve had the good fortune to have been published in many places, three of which would be: Appalachia, Haiku Headlines and Snowy Egret. When we converted the swimming pool into a swimming pond with fish, it provided all sorts of fun poetry.

In the Stillness
safety vests
of airport workers

the sound of rain

no one on the streets

God only knows
how long this will last
