Bio Note: An author, poet, educator, my poems have appeared in many international literary magazines, journals and anthologies, including The Fib Review, The Flatbush Review, Street Lit: Representing the Urban Landscape, and the Atherton Review. My most recent poetry collections are Edges and Rags & Feathers; Also, my first collection of fiction, Masques: Flash Fiction & Short Stories was published in August 2020. A Washington based author, I currently enjoy writing, turning wood, participating in “virtual” poetry readings, and—fishing along the Hood Canal.

Déjà Vu Wild One

Chopped hogs buzzing like open highway 
bumblebees; in my classic black motorcycle 
jacket, oily leather smells slap against the wind,
as I—a cool, conspicuous, hard tar bandit lead
the H. D. posse through flat lands and mountains,
dodging two-wheel mid-life rally questions.

Blue & white collar homies join forces,
recollect days before bulging bellies                    
betrayed comfort bound domestic rebels;
though routes never differ, some people change
I personally miss angry drivers flipping the bird,
but resent requests to honk a Harley like a trucker.

The Tubes enshrined burning rubber ballads,
children of an Easy Rider generation,
we roll loudly out of sight, stylized
helmets mask our fearless aging faces,
forty-something outlaws, fierce silver 
warriors, longing for timeless envy, approval.
