Bio Note: In these pandemic times, i have set myself the task of writing poems of praise.
A transplant to Arizona, I never tire of the desert landscape of Sonora and find much there to inspire
my work. Memories of past travels are another source of inspiration and gratitude.
A Boat Along the Rhine
I was happy that day on the deck of the slow boat that drifted a sinuous river. A few times in my life I might have been that content. My arms rested on the railing of the boat’s front deck, the slow engine purring my eyes staring down at water that parted at the prow, heading into the nothingness that flowed from the river and moved into the ocean beyond. I remember steep hillsides, olive trees that lifted their arms in gratitude to the wide and untroubled sky.
