April 2018
It's with relief that the business of show business is easing up and that I can have the leisure time to write what I love best poetry. I' now working on my tenth book of poems Time's Refugee after a line from "Gravedona" which Verse-virtual published in its September 2016 issue. Because of problems with distribution, for those interested, my ninth book can be ordered from http://www.grolierbookshop.org
IMMORTALITY
Poems are written for the folks at home
Who scoffed at what we said in prose.
Poems are written for the folks who doze
In nursing homes, or villages of stone.
Poems are written for idealized others,
For the best traits in our fathers, mothers.
Poems are transcripts of our chromosomes
That once formed moving flesh and bone.
Poems are written sound by line by page
In momentary grief or fear or rage,
Knowing there is no one and no home.
Poems are written for their sake alone.
In Poetry Magazine, March 2003 issue.
