I come to writing late in life, but with as much enthusiasm and vigor as are possible. Although I’m into memoir and short stories, poetry remains number one in my heart. I travel widely and invite my journeys to color my poetry and bring out the senses I experienced.
Recognize the feeling
When agility tiptoes off
and memory buries its gems,
when fog settles
in-between words
and unfocuses thought,
when cloudbursts drench
my walking path and drown
emerging buds,
when tasting lacks flavor
and friends leave all too soon,
when conversations turn to quarrels,
and I wrestle with myself,
I recognize the feeling --
It’s time to write a poem.
