I am a custodian and tutor in Fremont, Nebraska. I have been a hotel supervisor, phlebotomist, editorial assistant, farmhand, busboy, pizza-maker, and volunteer comedian to everyone in my life. I've published poems in The Lyric, Skidrow Penthouse, and Shot Glass Journal. I don't have a book out and don't know how to go about doing that.

Seven

Learn the seven deadly sins by heart,
Though deadly is quite harsh, but never fuss—
Observe their practice, imitating art.

Greed involves boldest strokes--impart
That wanting more requires vision. Trust
You'll learn the sin of vanity by heart—

Insult a god and watch him burst apart.
The glutton--Rubenesque, he'll eat the best
Of everything, even works of art.

The proud are proud they are also art
That can't be touched. All they do is just.
They know the seven deadly sins, by heart.

Be mindful some destruction plays a part
To illustrate the reds of wrath and lust.
How envy grows, seeing the sins as art,

In those who never sin but burn to start.
Unfortunate, the ones who think they must
Label acts to hide their soiled hearts,
Who never know what is and isn't art.
